Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20-25 minutes
Materials:
- 1 large sheet puff pastry or 2 small sheets
- 8 gala apples chopped
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp. cinnamon
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch w/ 1 tbsp. cold water
- 1 egg w/ 1 tbsp. water
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3-4 tbsp. heavy whipping cream
Process:
- In a medium sized sauce pan add in the chopped apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
- Cook over medium/ high heat stirring often, until apples soften (about 8-10 minutes).
- Add in the cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp. cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp. cold water) and mix to thicken the juices rendered.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and prep a baking sheet with some parchment paper. Set aside.
- Roll the puff pastry dough out and cut out circles the size you desire.
- Taking the edges fold them into the center about a centimeter in.
- Scoop a spoon full of the apple mixture into the center of the puff pastry.
- Combine the egg and water and brush over the exposed areas of the puff pastry.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- In a small mixing bowl combine the powdered sugar and heavy whipping cream.
- Pour the glaze over the baked pastries.
- Plate and ENJOY!
