Easy Apple Danish

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 20-25 minutes

Materials:

  • 1 large sheet puff pastry or 2 small sheets
  • 8 gala apples chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp. cinnamon
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tbsp. cornstarch w/ 1 tbsp. cold water
  • 1 egg w/ 1 tbsp. water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3-4 tbsp. heavy whipping cream

Process:

  1. In a medium sized sauce pan add in the chopped apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium/ high heat stirring often, until apples soften (about 8-10 minutes).
  3. Add in the cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp. cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp. cold water) and mix to thicken the juices rendered.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and prep a baking sheet with some parchment paper. Set aside.
  6. Roll the puff pastry dough out and cut out circles the size you desire.
  7. Taking the edges fold them into the center about a centimeter in.
  8. Scoop a spoon full of the apple mixture into the center of the puff pastry.
  9. Combine the egg and water and brush over the exposed areas of the puff pastry.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  11. In a small mixing bowl combine the powdered sugar and heavy whipping cream.
  12. Pour the glaze over the baked pastries.
  13. Plate and ENJOY!
