Turkey Chili

Prep time: 15-20 minutes

Cook time: About 1 hour

Materials:

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 large red onion chopped
  • 5 garlic cloves diced
  • 2 jalapeño peppers diced
  • 1 can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 can red kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup larger beer
  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tsp chicken bouillon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

Process:

  1. In a large soup pot or Dutch oven add in the olive oil. Keeping the heat on medium/ high add in the onion.
  2. Season with a pinch of salt and cook for a few minutes until the onions soften.
  3. Add in the jalapenos and garlic and cook for about 60 seconds or until garlic is fragrant.
  4. Add in the ground turkey and cook breaking the turkey apart with a spatula or wooden spoon.
  5. Once the turkey is fully cooked through season with some salt and pepper.
  6. Add in the tomato paste and mix well to incorporate.
  7. Season with chili powder, cumin, marjoram, oregano, and cayenne pepper.
  8. Add in the larger beer and cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring often.
  9. Add in the tomato sauce, sugar and chicken bouillon.
  10. Add in the beans, mix well to combine and then simmer for 45-60 minutes.
  11. Plate (top with cheddar cheese optional) and ENJOY!
