  • 1 cup mild cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil

  2. Keeping the heat on medium high add in the ground beef/ turkey. Season with salt and pepper and cook breaking the meat apart with a wooden spoon.
  3. Once fully cooked through remove the meat with a slotted spoon. If your meat renders a lot of fat discard some of the fat before continuing.

  6. Add the ground meat back into the pot along with the tomato paste.
  7. Mix well to incorporate fully.
  8. Add in the diced tomatoes and chilies as well as the can of tomato sauce. Mix well.
  9. Season with sugar, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. Mix well to incorporate.
  10. Lower the heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 40-45 minutes stirring every 5-10 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 380 degrees F and line a baking sheet with some parchment paper.
  12. Place the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls on the baking sheet.
  13. Top with a layer of your simmered meat and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese.
  14. Cover the top with the top half of the rolls and bake for 5-6 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  15. Plate and ENJOY!
