Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 70-80 minutes
Materials:
- 3 cups white rice (cooked according to package instructions)
- 5 Granny Smith apples sliced thinly
- 10 tbsp. sugar
- 4 tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 2 cups applesauce
- 5-6 tbsp. unsalted butter thinly sliced
- Pinch of salt
Process:
- Cook the rice according to package instructions in salted water and set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 380 degrees F.
- In a large casserole dish with high sides add in a few pieces of butter on the bottom of the dish. Place 1/3 of the rice over the butter and smooth it out.
- Top with 1/2 of the apple sauce and 1/2 of the sliced apples.
- Season with half of the sugar and cinnamon.
- Top another 1/3 of the rice and the remaining applesauce, sliced apples, sugar and cinnamon.
- Top with the reaming 1/3 of the rice and top with the remaining butter slices.
- Cover with aluminum foil (so the rice doesn’t dry out) and bake 50-55 minutes.
- Let rest for 10-15 minutes and then ENJOY!
