Prep time: 15-20 minutes
Cook time: 40-45 minutes
Materials:
- 1/2 large onion chopped
- 4 garlic cloves minced
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 32 oz. crushed tomatoes
- 4 oz. cream cheese
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (additional needed for top)
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese (additional needed for top)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. parsley
- 1 tsp marjoram
- 2 tbsp. olive oil (additional needed for greasing baking dish)
- 1 lb. cooked pasta
Process:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease a baking dish with some olive oil. Set aside until needed.
- Cook the pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet or Dutch oven add in some olive oil. Keeping the heat on medium/high add in the ground beef.
- Cook, breaking up the beef with a wooden spoon until the beef is cooked through. If the beef renders a lot of fat, discard the fat before continuing.
- Add in the onions and season with a pinch of salt. Cook stirring occasionally until the onions have softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add in the garlic and cook for an additional 60-90 seconds.
- Add in the crushed tomatoes and season with salt, pepper, sugar, parsley and marjoram. Mix well.
- Once seasoned well, add in the cream cheese and cook until the cheese has melted.
- Add in the cooked pasta and continue to mix to incorporate.
- Sprinkle in the cheese and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with some additional cheese and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Let sit for a few minutes before serving.
- Plate and ENJOY!
